I am your body. I’d like your attention for a minute because I have a something to tell you. Okay, here goes…
I have a job to do. Just so we are clear on this. I have a job to do and you are making it hard for me to do my job, sometimes.
I know that some things taste good. But that doesn’t mean that they are good. If they taste good but don’t give me what I need to do my job – I can’t do my job!
What is my job? To make new cells. I make new cells every day (or rather every night while you sleep) I make blood cells, hair cells, skin cells, cells inside your organs, all kinds of cells. I help you to grow. And I make repairs every night. If you fall and bruise or cut yourself – I fix that a bit each day, until it is as good as new.
When you have soft drinks, eat candy, chips, cookies, or other “empty” calories, I can’t do my job well. Especially if you eat those things instead of healthy food. Now I want you to take your copy of that stupid food guide that you have somewhere and shred it - it won't explain what I really need. That thing was written to promote the food industry, that is why it has categories like dairy on it. You really don't need all the items the food industry keeps pushing on you. It's better to think in terms of vitamins and minerals. I definitely need proteins and carbohydrates too, but you already know that.
I need Vitamin A for your eyes, skin, and hair – so eat carrots for snacks. I need Vitamin C and E to help repair cells and keep you healthy – so eat oranges and fish. I need Vitamin D to help keep you healthy too – that is sunshine. So get outside and get some sunshine and fresh air, whenever you can! Vitamin K is from fresh green leafy veggies and I need that to keep your blood working well. Iron is in spinach, that is important for red blood cells. I need Vitamin B for so many things:
- B1 — thiamine
- B2 — riboflavin
- B3 — niacin
- B5 — pantothenic acid
- B6 — pyridoxine and pyridoxamine
- B7 — biotin
- B9 — folate or folic acid
- B12 — cobalamin
One more thing: Due to some of the things happening in the food industry that should not be happening, there are many toxins in your food. Buy organic! Or better, get off your growing assets and plant a garden – then you will know exactly what is in your food. Food should give you energy, an energy that lasts, and fill you up. When there are no nutrients in your food, your food makes you hungrier and you eat too much! When there are toxins in your food, I have to store those things in fat and it isn't good.
What I really don’t need is exactly what you keep feeding me! So stop it! Please and thank you,
Signed,
Your Body
