Have you ever stood back and really listened without getting drawn into the conversation when someone is complaining?  Try it next time.
It's like the vortex that forms when water is running down a drain - and it is hard not to get pulled down with the person who is complaining.  Although I can fully sympathize with the fact that life will sometimes give us interesting challenges and that our tendency in this society is to complain rather than take responsibility, it is not a productive act.  Complaining and procrastination are like two members of a family gone bad and on the road to worse.  It astounds me that in this country with all the advantages that most people have we seem to be able to find no end of things to complain about.  Try watching the video below if you think that you don't have anything to be grateful for.  Emmanuel Kelly didn't sit around complaining and feeling sorry for himself.  He is making the most of what he has and doing an amazing job.  Kudos to him!  And what in blazes is up with the rest of us?  That is what we need to ask next time we start complaining.
