I have long known about the existence of what is talked about in this movie but this is extremely well done. Enjoy and please share!
If you have ever taken a step back and watched people following trends, as I have, you may find it raises the hairs on the back of your neck. It is not a sane phenomenon, nor is it unprovoked. Manipulation of the public is how so few are getting rich at the expense of so many. It is also the shadow of those ruling from behind the ones we are allowed to cast our vote for but who do not represent our interests. Frustrated, we vote them out and vote their opponents in - only to find that they do what their predecessors did and our interests are ...well, singularly uninteresting to them. I have long known about the existence of what is talked about in this movie but this is extremely well done. Enjoy and please share!

Dawson Creek in British Columbia is an amazing small city in Northern British Columbia. Check it out! It has recently become my home. It is currently experiencing some extremely hot weather, unusually hot. Temperatures have been in the 29-32 degree C range for over a month .( 88- 91 degrees F) While that may seem mildly hot to some of the readers for us it is sweltering. We are normally a drier climate due to being on the "other" side of the mountains and our climate is colder as one might suspect -- zone 3 - with temperatures dipping down to -40's C and below in winter. Winter usually starts in October (October 3rd has been the first day of snow for the past two years) and just keeps going often until late April or May. This year we did have a day of snow in June, which unfortunately took a great deal of my apple crop, since the trees were in full bloom. Climate change? Well if it is, I may best be starting some lemon and banana trees indoors soon. Dawson Creek has some amazing individuals as does the wider Peace River Region of which we are a part. The Peace River's tributary the Kiskatinaw River is the main water source for the town, which can get complicated. But more on that issue later. There is a vision toward sustainability. Including a provision for a suburb on 17th street with many sustainable aspects. In my view it is not nearly radical enough but at least it is a start. "Aller Anfang ist schwer!" (All beginnings are difficult!) as the Germans say. Peace Energy Co-operative, with head blogger Don Petit, was instrumental in getting the wind turbines up and is pushing for alternative energy here in town. The link to his blog is below. There are a good number of people working toward solar or other alternative energy, water conservation and food sustainability here in town and on the outskirts. Raising that consciousness is what it is all about, as we struggle with the fact that the oil industry is increasingly one of the main employers in the area. Post by Friends of Wind. Check out the Dawson Creek City website below and come visit us! There is lots of opportunity here and it is an excellent place to live. Just bring your long underwear for winter, watch out for wildlife on the road and discover Dawson Creek, Mile 0 on the Alaska Highway. http://www.dawsoncreek.ca/multimedia/photogallery/regional-attractions/ So here there are those who are bringing the old paradigm - comparison, creating divisions, labelling, religiosity - into the new paradigm. SIGH! When you do that, you miss the point. The very reason we are so limited in our choices is due to that university-inculcated-analyticritical-allleft-brained thinking micromind. Kudos to Spirit Science for featuring articles from the "other" side. We are all on a journey and sometimes on the journey, we get lost. Here is an example. As you read it, note the following: 1. The labelling and boxing. Academics used to their safe ivory towers need to label and put things away neatly. Kierkkegard said "Once you label me, you negate me." If you stick a label on someone, it is like you freeze them at that moment of their development based on certain symptoms of behaviour. 2. The judgment and biais Academia, or "cultivating discernment" seemingly through writing books is definitely less neurosis provoking than yoga or meditation -really? No western philosophical biais here. 3. The not so subtle plug for what her and her partner are doing. They have the answer and will pass it on to the waiting public soon. 4. Extrapolation of an existing model: Applying the "medical" model of allopathy (western medicine and its preoccupation with identifying and treating symptoms) here to spirituality. A bit of a clumsy fit, I think. 5. Opinions and accusations without any offered proof - I wouldn't buy a used course from a academic who starts off "It is a jungle out there..." But maybe that's because I'm from the Great White North. Where is the proof that someone who has been meditating or doing yoga is more likely to be neurotic than someone who has been an academic? Aren't we still innocent until proven guilty? As someone who knows academia well, I am appalled at this attempt to discredit any and all of the "enlightened" in favour of a couple of academics, who would like to hack into the profits these uneducated "enlightened" types are racking up helping people to find peace in the midst of difficulty. Since education does nothing to bring you peace of mind. Anyway, you be the judge. Maybe I'm just ranting but this is the type of "holier than thou", "entitled" attitude, which caused me to decline my doctoral invitation. If this type of writing and name-calling is either academic or enlightened, we are all in big trouble boys and girls! I'm not saying that there are not "spiritual" gurus who end up doing things they ought not. Balance is difficult and I acknowledge that in the comment I left, which follows the article. Maybe Dr. Caplan was just having a bad article-writing day, or maybe she was just at that #5 or #7 juncture at the time. Fear not! Life is a journey and we all, especially me (I don't in any way think I am better by the way) make mistakes. Anyway read on, leave comments as you like. As written by Mariana Caplan, Ph.D. It is a jungle out there, and it is no less true about spiritual life than any other aspect of life. Do we really think that just because someone has been meditating for five years, or doing 10 years of yoga practice, that they will be any less neurotic than the next person? At best, perhaps they will be a little bit more aware of it. A little bit. It is for this reason that I spent the last 15 years of my life researching and writing books on cultivating discernment on the spiritual path in all the gritty areas–power, sex, enlightenment, gurus, scandals, psychology, neurosis — as well as earnest, but just plain confused and unconscious, motivations on the path. My partner (author and teacher Marc Gafni) and I are developing a new series of books, courses and practices to bring further clarification to these issues. Several years ago, I spent a summer living and working in South Africa. Upon my arrival I was instantly confronted by the visceral reality that I was in the country with the highest murder rate in the world, where rape was common and more than half the population was HIV-positive — men and women, gays and straights alike. As I have come to know hundreds of spiritual teachers and thousands of spiritual practitioners through my work and travels, I have been struck by the way in which our spiritual views, perspectives and experiences become similarly “infected” by “conceptual contaminants” — comprising a confused and immature relationship to complex spiritual principles can seem as invisible and insidious as a sexually transmitted disease. The following 10 categorizations are not intended to be definitive but are offered as a tool for becoming aware of some of the most common spiritually transmitted diseases. 1. Fast-Food Spirituality: Mix spirituality with a culture that celebrates speed, multitasking and instant gratification and the result is likely to be fast-food spirituality. Fast-food spirituality is a product of the common and understandable fantasy that relief from the suffering of our human condition can be quick and easy. One thing is clear, however: spiritual transformation cannot be had in a quick fix. 2. Faux Spirituality: Faux spirituality is the tendency to talk, dress and act as we imagine a spiritual person would. It is a kind of imitation spirituality that mimics spiritual realization in the way that leopard-skin fabric imitates the genuine skin of a leopard. 3. Confused Motivations: Although our desire to grow is genuine and pure, it often gets mixed with lesser motivations, including the wish to be loved, the desire to belong, the need to fill our internal emptiness, the belief that the spiritual path will remove our suffering and spiritual ambition, the wish to be special, to be better than, to be “the one.” 4. Identifying with Spiritual Experiences: In this disease, the ego identifies with our spiritual experience and takes it as its own, and we begin to believe that we are embodying insights that have arisen within us at certain times. In most cases, it does not last indefinitely, although it tends to endure for longer periods of time in those who believe themselves to be enlightened and/or who function as spiritual teachers. 5. The Spiritualized Ego: This disease occurs when the very structure of the egoic personality becomes deeply embedded with spiritual concepts and ideas. The result is an egoic structure that is “bullet-proof.” When the ego becomes spiritualized, we are invulnerable to help, new input, or constructive feedback. We become impenetrable human beings and are stunted in our spiritual growth, all in the name of spirituality. 6. Mass Production of Spiritual Teachers: There are a number of current trendy spiritual traditions that produce people who believe themselves to be at a level of spiritual enlightenment, or mastery, that is far beyond their actual level. This disease functions like a spiritual conveyor belt: put on this glow, get that insight, and — bam! — you’re enlightened and ready to enlighten others in similar fashion. The problem is not that such teachers instruct but that they represent themselves as having achieved spiritual mastery. 7. Spiritual Pride: Spiritual pride arises when the practitioner, through years of labored effort, has actually attained a certain level of wisdom and uses that attainment to justify shutting down to further experience. A feeling of “spiritual superiority” is another symptom of this spiritually transmitted disease. It manifests as a subtle feeling that “I am better, more wise and above others because I am spiritual.” 8. Group Mind: Also described as groupthink, cultic mentality or ashram disease, group mind is an insidious virus that contains many elements of traditional co-dependence. A spiritual group makes subtle and unconscious agreements regarding the correct ways to think, talk, dress, and act. Individuals and groups infected with “group mind” reject individuals, attitudes, and circumstances that do not conform to the often unwritten rules of the group. 9. The Chosen-People Complex: The chosen people complex is not limited to Jews. It is the belief that “Our group is more spiritually evolved, powerful, enlightened and, simply put, better than any other group.” There is an important distinction between the recognition that one has found the right path, teacher or community for themselves, and having found The One. 10. The Deadly Virus: “I Have Arrived”: This disease is so potent that it has the capacity to be terminal and deadly to our spiritual evolution. This is the belief that “I have arrived” at the final goal of the spiritual path. Our spiritual progress ends at the point where this belief becomes crystallized in our psyche, for the moment we begin to believe that we have reached the end of the path, further growth ceases. “The essence of love is perception,” according to the teachings of Marc Gafni, “Therefore the essence of self love is self perception. You can only fall in love with someone you can see clearly–including yourself. To love is to have eyes to see. It is only when you see yourself clearly that you can begin to love yourself.” It is in the spirit of Marc’s teaching that I believe that a critical part of learning discernment on the spiritual path is discovering the pervasive illnesses of ego and self-deception that are in all of us. That is when we need a sense of humor and the support of real spiritual friends. As we face our obstacles to spiritual growth, there are times when it is easy to fall into a sense of despair and self-diminishment and lose our confidence on the path. We must keep the faith, in ourselves and in others, in order to really make a difference in this world. It is really a nonsequitor in the flow of your article though. Interesting that you and your partner, whom you quote in your article as someone who has "arrived" are putting out a series of teaching for the "confused" among us. Ah well, we are all on a journey. Using the old paradigm of "illness" to cover those struggling to a new paradigm is a brilliant tactic if you want to try to put your own message forward (which of course, is the message that will "heal" these "illnesses", I take it?) The excesses that you mention exist and are the result of imbalance and unresolved emotional, and mental issues or possibly attaching spirits or a failure to integrate the shadow into the personality; One can definitely find evidence of imbalance as we, individuals struggle to learn and grow and put more love and light into the world. We all have them. I think that labels do not help. Love helps. Much love to you on your journey. Mirrors are not always kind. Namaste! I love Spirit Science! If you haven't checked out their videos, do it!
They also mention another of my favs - Nassim Harramein - a quantum physicist, who is fun to listen to. Stuff worth checking out! Pure fresh water - Can't you just taste the refreshment on a hot day? Unfortunately many of the world's people do not have access to clean fresh water, at least not easily. It used to be something that most people in the western world could not relate to. Or was that really true? Lately stories are coming to light left and right dispelling the innocent notions that we had about government, military, medicine, and businesses. Deception - One of the most frightening of these revelations is the suppression of information about the content of toxins in our food and drinking water. While we may have heard about aspartame and the admitted link to tumors, we may be still undecided about the mounting evidence against vaccines. And then there is fluoride. Fluoride - Is it really needed for dental health? An original study by the ADA before the adoption of fluoride into the water, said that it was not helpful. Somehow that party line got quickly changed. Now if you ask the person on the street whether fluoridation is a good thing, they will likely say "Yes." The assumption being that it helps prevent tooth decay. This is unproven however. A fact which many people are unaware and seemingly uninterested in. Fluoride is a neuro-toxin. It damages the pineal gland and causes harm to the brain. So why are we putting it in the drinking water? Chlorine - As if the neuro-toxin fluoride in our drinking water, wasn't bad enough, there is also chlorine. We know that bleached flour and white sugar are unhealthy for you. So how does chlorine become good for you in the water. Why did it begin to be added to the water? What effects does it cause? Questions and Answers - These questions and their answers are important. Dr. Russell Blaylock, a retired neurologist, who has done the research and can answer the following questions: QUESTION 1: How did Chlorine come to be added to drinking water? Chlorine is the byproduct of the fertilizer industry. It was decided to release it in small quantities into the drinking water - without letting the public know that it was a toxin! Studies were done proving that it was hazardous to health and they were unheeded or suppressed. If you look on Youtube, you can find a video of a chlorine leak. In the video, chlorine ate through concrete! And it is in the drinking water? QUESTION 2: What are the effects of chlorine in our drinking water? Chlorine is used to combat microbial contamination, but it can react with organic matter in the water and form dangerous, carcinogenic Trihalomethanes. According to Dr. Joseph M. Price, MD, in Moseby's Medical Dictionary, "Chlorine is the greatest crippler and killer of modern times. It is an insidious poison". (http://www.pure-earth.com/chlorine.html) It is a matter of degree and how much is added BUT chlorine affects the digestive tract, the bladder but also looks like it causes heart disease. In his book, Coronaries/Cholesterol/Chlorine, Joseph M. Price, MD presents startling evidence that Trihalomethanes, are the "prime causative agents of arteriosclerosis and its inevitable result, the heart attack or stroke." These Trihalomethanes are created when the chlorine that is added to the municipal water supply reacts with organic matter such as leaves, twigs, or chemicals from agricultural runoff. (http://www.pure-earth.com/chlorine.html) Want to be better informed? Seems like I've been taking a rather long hiatus from blogging. Mea culpa! Artistic production however, is not always linear. Rather more, I should think mine is like a Fibonacci spiral. I've been busy with my own growth, which hopefully makes what I have to say somewhat more valuable. So I have been taking a vacation from my readers for a good reason.
I am in the process of editing a sustainable living vlog. Having just moved to an acreage, I will be working on sustainability for the foreseeable future - not that I won't continue writing, mind you! So things like raising plants from seedlings, companion planting, how to enrich your soil with compost, raising chickens and rabbits, preserving and also alternate energy sources All good stuff but if you are following for the love of books it might not be your thing. Never fear! There are multitudinous projects afoot. A second in the Indigo series is underway, as well as the final editing of my first novel. Oh yes! And a book launch! One in Dawson Creek on May 24th, 2014, and another is being arranged in Fort St John. This is a rather long but awesome video about a pre-colonial culture which is not Aboriginal. They are cryptically known as the Moundbuilders and basically dismissed. But this culture was not isolated in the Americas. The same structures exist also in Europe. So what is really going on here? And why, even though Abraham Lincoln and others of his era knew about these things, was this never really taught in school? I think I would remember them talking about 9 -10 foot tall skeletons being found? Check it out! It lines up well with the fact that all of the ancient cultures knew sophistocated building techniques with monolithic stones and had an incredible understanding of both astronomy and mathematics. And this stuff was reported at the time in the newspapers! I guess the press was different then. Just sayin' I had the most amazing dream a couple of years ago and I was reminded of it the other day. It is part of my up-coming novel series as a dream that one of the characters has. It was a dream about men who were driving around in Fred Flintstone type cars. (For those of you who don't understand that - a type of car that you are the engine for and run by putting your feet down and using them for power.) Anyway these guys had their cars at awkward lengths and angles but although all of the cars were capable of being driven and powered in the usual way, they were driving like it was pre-historic times. How apt! The majority of people are still acting like it was the middle ages and they were being forced to stay in certain venues or enter certain professions when there is a plethora of opportunities for diverse new ways of making a living. First it takes knowing who you are and what you are talented at - that is time and effort spent in getting to know yourself, taking feedback (but not necessarily believing all of it). Next you need to work through your subconscious programming - anything your family told you that wasn't yours and doesn't serve you, anything you may have picked up in school, or in the media. You need to work through your emotional blocks from any difficulties or trauma. Then you will have conquered yourself, all other things being equal. If you don't do that, you will be the person either not recognizing that the car has an engine and you don't have to use your feet, or not having a clue where to go with the car you have finally learned to drive. And where was I in the dream? Good question. I was off fixing my car and only had the door to put back on before I could head off to my destination. That was four years ago. Now I'm on my way. :)) The website store is open for business!! The circlets are available and the stories are also ready with the exception of The Guidance, which should be ready to download tomorrow. I will add new stories in a couple of weeks. Sorry about the kinks with the other provider!
I am going to be working on MP3 downloads of stories and possibly my books as that becomes possible. Enjoy! Please give feedback if there are any problems with the store! Published again! The Meditation Guide is live on-line at Amazon as an e-book and its print counterpart will be up within the week. Whew! I have been working steadily and gotten so much done but am missing blogging on my sites. Thanks to everyone who is reading! This small guide is for the beginner - absolute beginner! It contains chapters on the Why? How? When? of meditation as well as many useful sample meditations. There is a large section on crystals and their uses also and for anyone interested in the circlets, this book contains information on the care and feeding of your circlet. Also I have now (I think) worked some of the bugs out of my store and it should be functioning. I will be (if the UPS co operates and delivers my books on time) at the Dawson Creek Library next Saturday November 23rd to sell books and circlets, as well as sign the books although the real book launch will be in January. Exciting stuff for the new author! But I will try not to neglect y'all anymore! I promise. |
